Limefitt Park nr Windermere in the Heart of the Lake District is all change for 2010 – not only is the park no longer accepting touring caravans or campers this year for the first time, they have also refurbished the site pub, the Haybarn Inn, and have really brought it into the 21st century. I hardly recognised the place when I walked in & am suitably impressed at the changes made – a log fire has been placed in a cosy corner, proper bar tables and stools have been placed by the bar and along with the sofas and beautifully upholstered dining chairs it has made a real change to whole ambience. Coupled with a nice & friendly management team this is a great improvement to the facilities at Limefitt Park – try it for yourself and let me know what you think – others have assured me the food is good & they serve a nice pint! What more can you ask for at the end of a day exploring the Lake District! It’s only a 4 minute walk from Tree Top Lodge our lake district lodge & although the log cabin is self catering accomodation, it’s always nice to have a night off (or 2) from the cooking! And dogs are welcome so all you dog lovers don’t have to miss out! There is also a beer garden with wonderful views over Wansfell & Troutbeck. Whether you’re having a full week, a midweek break or a long weekend break at Tree Top Lodge don’t miss out on a visit to the Haybarn!

www.cesarmillanlive.co.uk – The Dog Whisperer is touring the main arenas in the UK in March and they need dogs with everyday behavioural issues to showcase and work with Cesar on stage! We’ve applied to take our Jester Boy on with his ball/food obsession and want to spread the word as we think he’s ace at what he does!
Whilst up for the weekend we happened across the Mint Festival in Kendal,Cumbria (only a 15-20 minute drive from both Calgarth and Tree Top Lodge) – and what a giggle!! There were street entertainers galore, who either set up in the actual High Street in Kendal or did a type of travelling minstrel routine!! Ones which stick in the memory are the bloke playing and cycling a piano at the same time (yes really!) with his singing cycling partner – and the giant ‘jocks’ out with their giant dog – who scared a number of bystanders by chasing them up the street, weeing on anybody not paying attention and nicking a sandwich out of the bakers!

So funny – you had to be there! Unfortunately we didn’t stay to see the fire displays as it was a bit late for the young uns – but I bet it was good!! A real credit to the Lake District Tourist Board or Cumbrian Council or whoever it was who organised it!!
Tree Top Lodge in the snow!

Both Tree Top and Calgarth Lodges are booked for New Year – although Xmas at Calgarth Lodge is still available up to now!! Twixmas breaks are always popular and you can see details of these short breaks either side and inbetween Xmas & New Year on the availability calendar!!

The Lake District has an abundance of Xmas fairs going on – most of the villages hold them and provide traditional festive favourites! Come and enjoy a Cumbrian Christmas Experience or shake the cobwebs away after all the festivities with a brisk walk on the fells and a pint of real ale in the pub with a welcoming fire as your hare of the dog!!
Take a look at the new ‘Things to do’ listing for the upcoming year – there’s the Ulverston Carnival, Coniston Water Festival, the Lakeland Rose, Garden & Craft Show, Lake District Summer Music, Grasmere Rushbearing and so much more!! Keep coming back for updated listings and find out about all the exciting events and festivals happening near Calgarth Lodge and Tree Top Lodge (both luxury lodges offering self catering accommodation near Windermere) this year!
Dog owners are delighted with the new luxury lodge at White Cross Bay – they love the fact that it’s so close to the Lake but still in a secluded spot, with excellent facilities so close to both Windermere and Ambleside. Having visited Tree Top Lodge at Limefitt Park already this year they are going to find it difficult to choose which lodge to visit next, using their 5% discount for returning customers! The enclosed garden is a big hit!
Look out for more information on things to do in the Lake District, Windermere, Ambleside and lots of other places, coming soon to the website.
